  • Hello, I am Kim, Jibong, the Director General of Central Civil Defence and Disaster Management Institute.
    
    Founded in 1986 as the Central Civil Defense Institute under the Ministry of Interior, the Central Civil Defence and Disaster Management Institute has been committed to producing(cultivating) experts in disaster management and civil defense areas. In 2006, the Civil Defense Training Center and the National Institute for Disaster prevention amalgamated(merged) into the Central Civil Defence and Disaster Management Institute, which is now famous(widely known) as the mecca of research and development as well as education regarding disaster management.
    
    

    “Operative Disaster Prevention, One Step Ahead Response, as its aim” CDI has trained key professionals specializing in effective disaster management and has built R&D infrastructure for disaster prediction, root cause analysis, and practical technology to protect the people and their properties from multiplying(increasing) disasters.
    
    Through the Safety Experience Center, we also offer the public daily safety experiences, such as earthquakes, windstorms, smokes, and subway accident simulations.
    
    Furthermore, as a leading disaster management training and research institute in Korea, we pledge to:
    
    -Continue to research in disaster management techniques preventing disasters in advance;
    -Develop a practical training program that can be used on the spot;
    -Retain highly trained and highly competitive internal and external instructors;
    -Serve the public with the dedication and enthusiasm of CDI staff
